THE CHAPEL

‘The Chapel’ was designed with an entirely opposite approach to the dead room. Although the room has been insulated to prohibit leaking sound, it has been constructed to produce controlled sound reflection within the booth itself. The walls are lined with wooden baffle diffusers at specific points and the floor is lined with Welsh slate. Most of the surfaces are left bare for natural reverb to be produced. This gives an extremely warm, colourful sound that produces fat vocal recordings and beautiful acoustic resonances, without losing any of the lower, bass frequencies.

It is perfect for sparse, spaced-out mixes and works best with acoustic guitars, fat electric guitars and bass (with distance mike’d cabs), percussion, unusual drum sounds, strings, and anything else that you want to sound more ‘human’, rather than digitally sampled.

This room is by far the most creative in its use, as we can remove or add diffusers and absorbers to calm or torture the sound to your taste. Corner carpeting helps tidy up the bass traps, but the slightly lumpy sound is what adds such character to this room!
